We’re delighted to welcome Kate Edwards to the Take This family as a member of our Board of Directors. Kate joins Russ Pitts, Susan Arendt, and Pete Hines in leading our efforts to raise awareness about mental health issues in the video game industry.
“As the game industry is a creative community with ever-growing diversity of individuals and our associated complexities, the mission of Take This is absolutely critical to the long-term well-being of all aspects of the game industry,” Kate said. “I am very fortunate for this opportunity to contribute my experience and perspective as a member of the board of directors to help guide the organization towards even greater effectiveness and reach.”
Kate brings with her a wealth of experience in the video game industry and beyond. For the past five years, she served as Executive Director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). In that role, she advocated for the safety and wellbeing of game developers around the world, pushed back against the culture of crunch, and reinvigorated IGDA’s presence in the industry. Prior to joining IGDA, Kate worked with Microsoft as a geopolitical strategist, helping to secure the company’s place on the global stage.
“Kate has been a champion for gamers and game developers her entire career, and a great ally of Take This,” said Russ Pitts, Take This executive director and co-founder. “Over the years I’ve come to call her a friend. I am thrilled to now welcome her to our family, and to have her mighty assistance in reducing the stigma of mental health issues.”
Kate’s expertise will be a great asset to Take This’ continued efforts to raise mental health awareness and fight the stigma in the video game industry. We are honored she has joined the Board of Directors.
