Let This AFK Room Volunteer Share Her E3 Experience With You

Boontarika Sripom is a Marriage & Family Therapist Intern working to provide positive perspective and therapy for artists, geeks, and gamers. She was also one of our awesome AFK Room volunteers at E3 2016, directed to us by our friends at Anxiety Gaming. In this video blog, she shares her thoughts on the AFK Room, Take This, and the joy that events like E3 can bring to anyone who has ever felt isolated in the real world by their hobbies.

Being part of something bigger – it means a lot to me. I know that sometimes when you’re an individual who feels like no one gets you and people question or make fun of you for what you like it, makes it hard to open up. It can take a while to trust people again.

It means a lot to me to be around people who get it and do not question at all your geek level or your right to be there.

Sripom also maintains a blog on mental health-related subjects that are sure to resonate.

Our thanks to Sripom and all our AFK Room volunteers — it’s only with their help that we’re able to offer the safety of the AFK Room to our community. If you’re interested in volunteering for a future event, you can register here.
