If you are a certain flavor of geek, this is going to be an absolute must-watch. Patrick Rothfuss, author of The Kingkiller Chronicle, and Travis McElroy, co-host of such beloved podcasts as Adventure Zone and My Brother, My Brother and Me, got together on Twitch with Thera, a friend who chooses to remain slightly anonymous, to talk about mental health, self-care, and other topics near and dear to our hearts.
Fortunately for all of us, they’ve archived the stream. There are some technical glitches, but the conversation is well worth riding them out if you can. They talk about their own issues, coping mechanisms, therapy, and a lot more. You can find the mental health talk starting at around 14:30:
This video cuts off a bit early — you can find the rest in a few shorter videos on Patrick Rothfuss’s Twitch page.
The conversation was part of Rothfuss’s annual fundraiser through Worldbuilders, raising funds for Heifer International. It’s an exciting fundraiser for a great cause with a lottery of prizes that would be a delight for any sort of geek, so you might want to check it out.
