Mental health representation can be a powerful thing. Recognizing your own experiences in a fictional character goes a long way toward making those experiences feel normal. Celeste shines in part because it addresses mental health issues in a genre that doesn’t typically invest much time into such weighty subjects — and in doing so, it’s helping people who might not normally get into the sorts of character-driven narrative games that more regularly explore mental health.
