Mental Health Reminders and Taking Breaks

By  Katrina Keller · November 3rd, 2020 · Announcements, Support, Video Games

It’s a stressful and uncertain time… even more so than normal. You may be experiencing a lot of intense emotions and uncertainty – we are too. You’re not in this alone. I’m going to repeat this because it’s important: You are not alone. Your feelings are valid, right now and always.

Uncertainty can be scary, but it can also bring us hope because it means that the future is not set.

So what do we do when the stress, the anxiety, and the uncertainty seem overwhelming? I’ve made y’all a list because that’s what I do best. It’s a good reminder right now for all of us to take care of ourselves and each other.

Know your limits

Being informed is important, but not to the point where stress or anxiety takes over your life. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Take a Break

Don’t feel guilty about this. It’s ok to take a break and step back. In fact, it’s healthy to do so. Allow yourself to breath and process outside of social media and general doom-scrolling.

Connection

Reach out to friends, co-workers, family – anyone you enjoy talking to. Or join our Discord and chat with folks about games, adorable pets, or food.

Go Outside

If it’s safe for you to do so and you are able, talk a short walk outside. Or just sit by a window and take some time to look at the outside.

Watch

You can also check out our Ambassadors’ streams. Our Ambassadors actively work to create positive, supportive communities and an environment of acceptance and kindness.

Extra Help

If you’re feeling exceptionally overwhelmed we have an entire page of resources, helplines, self-care tools, and apps.

Most Importantly

Remember that you’re not alone.
